Nice to meet you!
I'm Allison McClain, a graphic designer living in San Diego, California. I recently graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, where I learned how to cultivate a better creative experience for you and me. My ultimate goal as a designer is to create more compassion and understanding in the world through shared stories.

But before I get to that, I'll share a bit of my own. At Cal Poly, I was a Visual Media Intern for the College of Science and Mathematics, a designer for the AIGA Cal Poly chapter, and the president of the fencing club. Cal Poly even hosted an Olympic qualifying round for the USA Pentathalon, where I was the Chief of Discipline for Fencing, meaning I helped plan and run the event.

Why Stories?
As a designer, I understand I have the privilege to build bridges between individuals. Having this ability of connection fascinates me and drives me to push myself out of my comfort zone in order to learn more about our relationships with others and with design. Design is filled with nuances that tell parts of a story and it's the designer's responsibility to find the peices for a truthful and beautiful path. It is a language that is dependant on the receiver, the message either works or it doesn't. Being able to tell a successful story means turning abstract and creative ideas into a simple and digestible form. Since simplicity equals clarity.
"Storytelling is not something we do. Storytelling is who we are."
